Golf Swings Over America

Lunar module at Mississippi Welcome Center.
You just never know what you might find at a welcome center!

On a venture like the one I’m pursuing, one will find themselves behind the wheel of a car quite a bit. Without a doubt I will stumble upon things either on the road, at the side of the road or even something that might be heard upon a local radio station. For example, when one travels regularly up and down Interstate 81 through New York and Pennsylvania, one tends to get in the habit of counting dead deer on the side of the road.  In the Gulf States, that would be dead Armadillos instead.

Or perhaps something less morbid, you might see a father riding a bicycle with one hand down a busy 3 lane city street.  And the reason he’s only riding with one hand is because he is clutching his infant son, sans helmet, with the other hand.  Father of the year candidate right there I tell ya!!!

But when I’m not driving, I often take a few minutes to enjoy some of the sites. It might only be a five or ten minute rest, or perhaps it is an overnight stay. But usually something catches my eye that makes me want to snap a picture.

So here’s a couple of examples that aren’t really related to golf in any way whatsoever.  Basically, they are things that I found interesting. I hope you do as well.

For Example….

We found ourselves in Savanna Georgia in 2013 and located the setting for the scene in Forrest Gump, where Tom Hanks is sitting on the bench waiting for the bus.

This next picture I snapped while strolling the beach in Gulfport Mississippi.

I dare you to visit the battlefield at Gettysburg, early morning and not be moved by the thoughts of the lives lost on this site.

Discovered in 1878, the Luray Caverns in Virginia is the largest series of caverns in the east and a must see if you’re in the Shenandoah Valley.
