O.K. I admit it. I enjoy watching the show “Swamp People”. I can’t explain why, but I do. I guess I admire people who are willing to face danger, just to scratch out a living. If you’re not familiar with the show, it features real people who “fish” alligators for a living. Most of the time, simply using a baited hook set hanging from a spindly branch and then they “reel” in the gator using their bare hands. Then when they get the gator to the boat, they shoot it in the head…but that’s a different story altogether.
But when I told my wife and daughter (prior to this road trip) that when I get to Louisiana I’m going to look up some of the Swamp People, I was only kidding around. Well a funny thing happened when I pulled into the Louisiana Welcome Centre on my way to play golf in Slidell, LA. I was walking by the information desk on my way to the restroom when I couldn’t help but overhear a conversation this middle-aged couple was having with the attendant working behind the desk. “Can you show me on the map where we’re going to find R.J. and J-Paul. And what about Troy?” These of course would be characters from the show.
So I guess I’m not the only crazy person after all !!!
